Holstein Horse

Here is how our conversation went in the car this morning.

Kyra: "Mom, where is that horse?"
Me: "What horse?"
Kyra: "That holstein horse."
Me: "You mean cow?"
Kyra: "No, where is that black and white holstein horse that was in that fence?"
Me: SMILE. :-)

Our neighbors have a black and white horse and yes, on Kyra's behalf, it does look like a holstein...horse.

I love how the minds of kids work!

This Week...

I apologize for so many posts all at one time - we had a busy week.

Here are our miscellaneous pics from the week.

The kids doing a group picture. They did pretty well! Reagan even smiled.
They were telling me they were now done with picture taking - they were screaming at the top of their lungs - poor Reagan's ears. You can see her cringing.Sometimes you get lucky and they really do look like they like each other and you get it on camera!

Then there are pictures like this and you don't know if they like each other or are trying to strangle each other - maybe both!
Daddy and Reagan relaxing and watching the rest of us "play" a t-ball game.

Our first produce from the garden this year (except for our strawberry patch that did great)!

Lacy & Reagan snuggling.

Uncle Britton enjoying some time with Reagan.

Girl or Boy???

Okay, so we go to church yesterday and this is what Reagan wore - a pink dress with a pink blanket. We went to Walmart after church and still Reagan is in her pink dress and has her pink blanket. The greeter at the door says, "Kids, you want a smily face sticker?" She gives the three older kids a sticker. "Does the little one need a sticker?" She looks into the carseat. "Here, we will give him a sticker too. He looks good in yellow." (The sticker was yellow). We walked away and Jed literally burst out laughing as he looked at me fuming. Does anyone think I would dress my SON this way?! Seriously, I don't think I can put her in much more pink to make her look any more girl!

This is an ongoing story for Jed and me. It never fails, every Sunday at church someone says something about "how cute he is" or says to the kids "how do you like your baby brother". It drives me crazy because every Sunday she has pink on her clothes somewhere and every Sunday she is wrapped in a pink blanket (hey, give me a break, we have three girls - we have a lot of pink in the house). You would at least think if there was any doubt they wouldn't say anything or they would say "the baby" but no they just think we dress our son in 100% pink! Ahhh....

Sleep Over

The kids had their first sleep over at our house and had SOOO much fun. John and Josie came over Friday to play and go to the farm and see the animals and the Mom's got to squeeze in a long overdue visit. Friday night we all went to Grandma's house to prepare for Stacy's baby shower. Saturday the boys had a "boy party" with Jed at our house and ended up getting to ride tractor with Uncle Brandon and move bales and the girls went to the "girls party" aka Baby Shower.

John and Reagan having some bonding time.Feeding the steers.

John playing with the puppies - don't you love that gap toothed smile. :-)Josie trying to carry a puppy that was almost as big as her!Josie and Reagan having bonding time. Josie was with us for about 24 hours - Reagan's night was about 10 hours long - I think Josie held Reagan about 12 out of the 14 remaining hours that she was here! She could not get enough of that baby! I had to pry Reagan away when it was time to eat. More time together! The girls at the "girl party". Carley was sleeping - her big day, no nap, late night, early morning, big day caught up with her (me too)!

County Fair

We went to the county fair this week with Grandma and Grandpa.

Jed and Gavin thought they could get a lot of use out of this thing in our yard. I saw the price tag and didn't really think so!

Posing for a group picture - they usually don't turn out this well. They are all smiling and all looking in the general direction of the camera.Gavin is pretty sure that Grandpa's next big purchase needs to be one of these.Strong man!I am starting to see a theme. Can anyone guess what Gavin's favorite part of the fair was?The kids were able to get up close to a baby calf and pet it. And yes, on July 16th in Minnesota it was cold enough to have sweatshirts on with coats on over that WITH HOODS UP!Carley & the baby camel. Carley cooperated but the camel didn't want to look at the camera.Jed and Gavin feeding the ostrich. Gavin was really not sure about this - you can see Dad pushing him closer. What a Dad!
Yes, by the time he was done he was cringing and pulling away from the ostrich ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE. That's our brave guy. Kyra was all about it though and by the time she was done feeding it we had to pull her away from the cage because she was sticking her hand through to touch the ugly things.Gavin petting the deer.Gavin enjoying a pony ride.Carley having NONE of a pony ride. She started crying the minute they entered the gates and was climbing over Jed's shoulder to get away from it. He sat her down and picked her right back up - there was no way she was gong to ride the pony (even though she had talked about doing it all day long).Kyra looks like a natural and LOVED riding the pony and wanted to do it about 25 more times that night. She was done with her ride for approx. 4 seconds before she asked to do it again.Petting the big horses. And the little horse...I am starting to see a theme with her too. She is going to have to talk long and hard to get Grandpa to buy her a horse. This is as close as Carley got to a horse - a 6 foot plastic statue.

Small Favor...

I got this e-mail from my aunt - gave me a good chuckle...

Hi,
It's that time of the year again. I need a small favor ... If it's not too much trouble. I wouldn't ask this if you were not such a good friend. I'm going away on vacation, and I need a friend to come over to water my plants while I'm gone. The plants are mostly geraniums and begonias. In the hot weather they'll probably only need water twice a day. I'll be gone only 21 days. I've attached a photo for your reference. I'll send you a post card OK? Thanks so much. :-)

Our Week In Review...

Gavin is playing t-ball again this year. The first few games he didn't really seem like he was enjoying himself but then last week he got placed at the pitchers mound and saw lots of action and was fielding the ball like he had been playing forever, ever since then he has seemed to thoroughly enjoy it and this week he even ran over one of his own teammates to field a ball. Ooops!
This is what the girls like to do when Gavin has a game - make "sand castles".

Go Gavin!
He always has to turn around and make sure we are paying attention to his game. :-)

Bonding time for Reagan and Carley.
Kyra and Reagan both ended up in bed with me on this morning. When I got up they were both sleeping with their arms over their heads.

The two older kids will start swimming lessons in a couple of weeks. Kyra loves the water but Gavin always takes some getting used to it, so Jed brought out the blow up pool to give him some time to get used to swimming again before he starts his lessons. It was a lot of work - cleaning out the pool (with three helpers), filling it up, keeping the dog out of it - and then we found out it had a hole in it, so the fun only lasted for a short time.
Our little fish.

Oh that's cold!
Rarely do I get a good picture of Carley - she becomes so serious when the camera comes out or she has the cheesiest grin ever - but she had a good week this week with picture taking!

The "lion cage". They came up with this game. Look at those roaring faces - don't they look like mean lions?!
