Gavin saved a bird from the jaws of Ruby the other day. He used a Rubbermaid tub and a recycling tub to create a “safety” cage for the bird to recuperate and be safe from the dog. He gave it water in the cap from a milk jug and put some grass in there for it. He checked on it approximately every 23 seconds. Ruby sat next to the cage for almost 24 hours waiting for her chance to get at that bird again but oddly enough did not try to knock the cage over – which could have been done with the slightest nudge. Gavin went outside the next morning to find his efforts wasted. The bird was dead. I thought he’d be really sad but he came in the house and said, “Well, it died. I guess I just have to go out and catch another one.” Like it’s easy to catch a bird?! So far the cage has remained empty.

Cutie Kyra Jo wit her new haircut. Her first haircut in a beauty shop (of course she had her own beauty shop back in January and this haircut was in response to that hair cut - we are STILL trying to work out way out of that "self cut".

Doing sparklers - you cannot know how hard it is to get a picture of three kids with three lit sparklers all at the same time - but we did it!Carley celebrating the 4th of July!

Gavin enjoyed the green sparklers - yeah, I didn't know they made green ones either, but hey - tractors are green so green sparklers have to be the best!

Kyra enjoyed dancing with her sparklers - that girl is such a girly girl it's not even funny.

Watching fireworks in Dodge Center. We got to watch these fireworks closeup a couple of weeks ago and then we stayed at home on the 4th of July and did sparklers and watching more than a dozen sets of fireworks from our backyard by the campfire with Grandma and Grandpa. This is how our kids have to watch fireworks?! Carley just keeps saying over and over, "To o loud, too loud."

His is more for show than actually noise reduction.

This is where Jed and the kids have spent 80% of their summer - the garden. It's huge and I don't know how Jed keeps up with it and with the kids, but it's looking good - peppers, cucumbers, carrots, corn, decorative corn, gourdes, pumpkins, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cauliflower, cantaloupe, watermelon and even some field corn (compliments of Gavin). Looking good guys!Carley - I just don't have words for this...

This cannot be comfortable can it. For some reason she decided she needed to have her pink tutu on while washing the table while being on top of the table. As you can see in the corner of the second picture that her Dad's arm is right there and since he still has both arms, I would assume he was sitting there watching her do this?! :-)

Oh to Be An Adult

When we told our kids two weeks ago that Aunt Stacy and Uncle Brandon went to the hospital to have their baby we also told them that we would go meet him the next day. Well, due to some complications the kids have not been able to see him yet. So, we continue to show them pictures of him and read his website to them. Kyra and Carley don't really get it but Gavin just can't wait to see his baby cousin and spend some time with him. I explained to him that where he is at in the hospital only adults can go in. So, a couple of days ago I was doing dishes and he was playing on the kitchen floor and said:

"Mom, are you an adult?"
"Yup."
"Am I an adult?"
"No, your aren't an adult yet."
"When will I be an adult."
"Not for quite a while yet, it takes a long time to grow up and be an adult."
"Well, will I be an adult tomorrow?"
"No, not tomorrow, why?"
"Well, if I could be an adult tomorrow I could go see Baby Jason with you."

I love how this child's mind works.

Reagan - One Month Old

Reagan is one month old! Lucky for me, my Aunt Sharon was here and set up her own little photo studio in my living room and got some cute pictures for us to remember Reagan when she was little, little! Can't believe she has already been around for a month!

Week with Great Grandma & Aunt Sharon

Great Grandma Miller and Aunt Sharon had planned a week long trip to MN to visit the two new babies. They did a great job of spoiling Gavin, Kyra, Carley and Reagan for the week. They picked strawberries from our strawberry patch, visited the puppies/goats/cattle/kittens on the farm, went to see a movie in the theater, went to the water park, ran around naked on Grandma's new patio in the water and of course got the flu (not because they were outside naked - it was 95 degrees!)...all in one week.

I appologize now for all of the pictures, but there were so many cute ones (yes I may be biased) and my Aunt loves to take pictures and she is great at it - so I had to share. Thanks Sharon! Take a look...
