4th of July Week

We started 4th of July week off with some t-ball and baseball games. Kyra, waiting for the hit. Doesn't she look determined?
Added some rewards for Carley going potty...I didn't have any candy in the house, so I used some chocolate covered pretzels for Carley potty reward. I gave her two, she ended up with the whole bag, which she promptly shared with Reagan (secretly under the table). This picture is how I found them... :-)

Reagan's white chocolate covered face.
Reagan's favorite kitchen play time...taking all of the tupperware lids out of the drawer and replacing them with herself.
Jason, Reagan, Kyra and Carley enjoying water time at the lake. Gavin, Kyra and Carley went to the lake on Friday and spent the night with John and Josie. Jed, Reagan and I went up the next afternoon for a Luau party to catch up with some friends from Texas and then we all spent the night Saturday night so we could get up bright and early the next morning to go to a local small town parade. I haven't spent the night at Amanda's house since I was in junior high - it was fun to do it with each of our families now. The kids zonked out Saturday night but the adults got to see lots of fireworks action on the lake. Very pretty!

John & Gavin having a noodle fight (all in good fun)!

The girls with their Hawaiian flowers.
Carley & Reagan playing.
Uncle Brandon figuring out the kiddie toy with Reagan.
John & Gavin lounging in the water chairs - just missing the water! Little cutie Bree looking on.

Carley in the Luau spirit!

And of course the morning of the parade it had to rain. So, we pulled out all of the umbrellas we had and it actually ended up being enough - the soggy group - but that's what memories are made of!
Kyra & Josie staying dry.
Amanda and Carely waiting for the parade.

Gavin, John, Steve & Uncle Randy - don't they look like they are having fun?! :-)

There were lots of old tractors in the parade - which of course were a big hit with Gavin.

Kyra's favorite part of the parade was a VERY purple old car that drove through. Go figure!

The kids all did pretty good with getting candy throughout the parade (an important part of a parade in the eyes of a kid) but then at the end of the parade that had this little candy house go through and they were throwing out buckets of candy at a time. Needless to say it was a huge hit with the kids and we still have lots of candy left over from the parade.

Still picking up candy after the candy house went through...

...and still...

...eventually the umbrella just became a holding ground for all of the candy accumulated. Now that's using your thinking cap!

...oh wait, we STILL aren't done picking up candy.

So, after a wet and soggy start to the 4th it actually ended up to be a nice night. We went to Owatonna to watch fireworks. Other than the MILLIONS of mosquitos who decided to join us, it was a nice family night. Reagan was on the move (she is a full fledged walker now).
And, we ended the week with some more t-ball and baseball games.

Kyra up to bat - there is no in between with her - she either misses completely or cracks the heck out of the ball!

Running to 3rd base.

Gavin waiting for the pitch. Here we go!
Gavin rounding 3rd.

And what 4th of July celebration is complete without some sparklers?!
